山田洋次監督『家族はつらいよ』シリーズ第3弾製作決定
50年以上にわたり常にその時代に生きる“家族”を撮り続けてきた山田洋次監督が、国民的映画『男はつらいよ』シリーズ終了後20年ぶりに製作したファン待望の喜劇映画『家族はつらいよ』のシリーズ3作目が製作されることが決定。タイトルを新たに『妻よ薔薇のように 家族はつらいよIII』として、来年5月に公開される。■あらすじ
史枝（夏川結衣）は、育ち盛りの息子ふたりと夫・幸之助（西村まさ彦）、その両親3世代で暮らす主婦。ある日、家事の合間にうとうとしていた昼下がり、泥棒に入られ、冷蔵庫に隠しておいたへそくりを盗まれた!! 夫から「俺の稼いだ金でへそくりをしていたのか！」と嫌味を言われ、余りに気遣いの無い言葉にそれまでたまっていた不満が爆発した史枝は、家を飛び出してしまう。
一家の主婦が不在となった平田家は大混乱！ 身体の具合の悪い富子（幸之助の母／吉行和子）に代わり周造（幸之助の父／橋爪功）が掃除、洗濯、食事の準備と慣れない家事に挑戦するがそんなこと続くわけがない。家族揃って史枝の存在のありがたみをつくづく実感するのだが、史枝が戻ってくる気配は一向にない。家族会議、緊急召集！ 平田家崩壊の危機か――!?

『家族はつらいよ』は、2016年3月に1作目が公開されると、橋爪功×吉行和子の熟年夫婦の離婚危機とその騒動に出くわす家族の姿に人々が共感し大ヒット。続く今年5月には『家族はつらいよ2』が公開。そして公開すると同時に寄せられたファンからの続編を希望する声に背中を押される形で、この度シリーズ3作目の製作が決定した。
作を重ねるごとに、夏川結衣演じる一家の家事すべてを担う平田家の嫁・史枝の存在に注目が集まり、観客から史枝への応援の声が多く寄せられるようになった本シリーズ。
先日のクランクインにあたり、山田監督は「今回は妻への賛歌です。専業主婦の家事という仕事がどれだけ大変か、家族にとって主婦の存在がどれだけ重要な意味をもっているか。前回の作品は周造の友人が巻き起こす騒動で老人の貧困がテーマだったけれども、今回は内側に内在していた夫婦の問題が噴出し、それに対して家族たちがどう対応し、オロオロしながらどう乗り越えていくか、そこが前とは大きな違いです。このテーマは、ある種の重みを持っているので、そこをきちんと押さえて、楽しくも味わい深いどっしりとした喜劇をつくりたいと思います」とキャスト・スタッフに語っており、さらにパワーアップした山田ワールドが期待できそうだ。
■お馴染みの豪華出演者たち
出演には、『東京家族』からお馴染みの“家族”を演じた8名の実力派豪華俳優陣が、今回4度目の結集。橋爪さん×吉行さんを始め、本作での核となる長男夫婦に西村まさ彦×夏川さん、そして長女夫婦に中嶋朋子×林家正蔵、次男カップルに妻夫木聡×蒼井優らが。またシリーズお馴染みの小林稔侍、風吹ジュン、笹野高史、木場勝己、藤山扇治郎、徳永ゆうき、笑福亭鶴瓶も登場。さらに、立川志らくが山田組初参加を果たす。
『妻よ薔薇のように 家族はつらいよIII』は2018年5月、全国にて公開予定。
『家族はつらいよ2』ブルーレイ＆DVDは11月3日（金・祝）発売。
